Look at all
these smiles
Brimming
with excitement
As we hide
our monsters
Inside the
wrinkled laughter
Giggles that
shake our inside
And veil
the ill intentions
We harbor underneath
The warmth
we mirror
Deflect
from those of them
Who don’t
know the hurt
We sadden
the loved ones with
In the
secrecy of our anger
Look at the
attained balance
We acquired
through injustices
Up for
grabs by those of us
Who have
long used influence,
Means to
get more means
What we
believed was due
To our
forefathers and mothers
Ancestors
we have undressed
And exposed
to our greed
Our passion
for earthly possession
Time bound
powers of inequality
Designed to
our pleasures, affluence
Look at all
the pain
Spread
throughout the nation
Decorated
on the scarred faces
Sunk
personalities of lives
That once
upon a time blossomed
Glowed with
happiness and life
Now
withdrawn and tattered
Shook like
dead tree trunks
Harvested
and used for fire wood
To warm the
cold in our persons,
Restore the
blushes on our faces
As they
turn into dust, dust, dust!
