The Great Thirst

So we drink as if the bottle
Has insulted us or urgently needs
To be returned, refilled and resold

We drink as if being sober
Has a pain so so very deep
It well forever pain our hearts

We drink as if the end
Of all good things has come
Like the 7 fat years of the bible

We drink as if tomorrow
Will only become a reality
Once all the bottles are empty

We drink as if our luck
Lies hidden in the bottom
Of every bottle we finish

We drink as if the winner
Will forever be quenched
Of all thirst and possible pain

We drink, we drink and drink
And get drunk and settle
Like dust in our ignorance.
